Due to the rain in the forecast, we are making changes to the scheduled events on Saturday, March 25. Both the morning winter clinics and the afternoon evaluation clinic as originally defined are canceled.

The only event Saturday will be a morning evaluation clinic at Bulkeley Middle School in Rhinebeck, and due to space limitations, it will be open only for specific age groups:

9-10 a.m.: 8-year-olds 

10:15 a.m.: Mandatory coaches meeting, for all who registered with a willingness to volunteer as a head or assistant coach

11 a.m. -noon: 10-year-olds

NOTE: These ages are determined based on Little League’s definition – the age your child will be as of August 31, 2023. In other words, some kids who are 7 years old today are considered to be 8 if they will have a birthday before August 31, and some kids who are 9 today are considered to be 10. Please consult this chart to make sure you understand if your child is considered to be an 8 or 10 year old for this purpose. If your child is eligible, you will also receive a separate email with an invitation to the clinic.

We have a wonderful challenge this year, with strong registration numbers for all divisions. Our goal for this season – for the first time in years – is to have all divisions play in Red Hook and Rhinebeck, without the need to travel to other towns. To accomplish this, some 8-year-olds will play in coach-pitch, and some in player-pitch minors. Some 10-year-olds will play in player-pitch Minors, and some in Majors. The evaluation clinic will help us determine which players will play in each division, and help coaches in each division form well-balanced competitive teams. 

For 8-year-olds, the default will be to play in Coach-Pitch Minors. For 10-year-olds, the default will be to play in Player-Pitch Minors. If your child can’t attend the evaluation clinic, you should expect that he will play in the default division.

For anyone who has yet to register, the deadline is Friday, March 24.
